Phoenix Family in Need Receives Free AC System from Local Company

Chas Roberts Air Conditioning & Heating sponsors contest to give back to the Phoenix community

Phoenix, Arizona (June 12, 2012) – Chas Roberts Air Conditioning and Heating has chosen a Phoenix family to receive a free home air conditioning and heating unit and installation. The unit was installed on June 11, just in time for the brutal summer heat.

The family – Ken and Bambi Hartman – were among many nominations Chas Roberts received this year as part of their annual Cool Play AC Giveaway contest. Both Ken and Bambi have health problems and have been living without an air conditioner for seven years. The Hartmans were nominated by Ken’s co-worker who strongly believed they deserved this nomination for all of the giving they do to others. The Hartmans run the Great Dane rescue of Arizona from their home, taking care of multiple rescue dogs. Ken also manages the St. Mary’s Food Bank food drive at his office.

The family received a Goodman brand air conditioning system, installed by Chas Roberts, and two tickets to an Arizona Diamondbacks game.

“We received so many heartfelt and compelling nominations this year that we weren’t sure how we were going to choose which Phoenix family would receive this prize,” said Sissie Roberts Shank, CEO of Chas Roberts Air Conditioning & Heating. “The nomination submitted on behalf of the Hartmans stood out from the pack because despite their own struggles, they give selflessly to others.”

This is the third year Chas Roberts has sponsored this contest where the general public is invited to nominate someone in need. Winners were selected based on the story of need submitted on the online application form on ChasRoberts.com.

“From our humble beginnings 70 years ago when my grandparents started Chas Roberts Air Conditioning and Heating, we have grown into Arizona’s largest HVAC provider, thanks to the support of the communities in the Phoenix area,” said Roberts Shank. “We are a family-owned and operated business that serves Arizona’s families, so we truly look forward to this contest every year as a way to give back to the community that has done so much for us.”
