Chas Roberts Selects Winners of AC Giveaway Contest

For the fourth year, Chas Roberts Air Conditioning & Plumbing has selected two winners to receive a free Tucson or Phoenix air conditioning system, as part of the Chas Roberts Cool Play AC Giveaway. The program allows Chas Roberts to give something back to the community that has enabled the company to become the largest provider of Tucson and Phoenix air conditioning service and installation.

In Arizona, air conditioning is a must-have for homeowners, not just for comfort, but for health and safety reasons as well. It’s especially important that homes of the elderly and with children have air conditioning systems in proper working order. According to the Arizona Department of Health Services, nearly 800 people are admitted to hospitals because of heat related illnesses each year and 1500 weather related deaths from exposure to heat have occurred in Arizona from 1992 to 2009.

And the Winners Are…

At the start of the contest, Chas Roberts asks members of the community to nominate those in need of a new, properly-working Tucson or Phoenix air conditioning system. Nominations are submitted online via ChasRoberts.com and winners were selected based on the stories of need detailed in the nomination form.

Chas Roberts is proud to present this year’s AC Giveaway winners:

  • Phoenix Children’s Project: This year, for the Phoenix winner Chas Roberts selected the extended family that makes up the Phoenix Children’s Project. This nonprofit organization helps impoverished children in the Phoenix metro area in myriad ways, including providing back-to-school clothes and supplies, Christmas and Easter gifts, family food boxes, swimming lessons and even a summer camp. Chas will be installing two systems at one of their locations: a single family home that houses a family in need and the children’s community center where children can play games, read, do crafts and learn, all in a safe and fun environment.
  • The Walker Family: In Tucson, the family of Adam and Melissa Walker received a new Goodman air conditioning system. Melissa is a dedicated teacher and mother, and is pregnant with the couple’s third child.

“In 2010, we came up with the idea for this giveaway because we wanted to find a way to help homeowners in need,” said Chas Roberts CEO Sissie Roberts Shank. “Each year we have read through so many heart-wrenching stories in the nominations so we know there is a real need for this. We are thrilled to be able to provide a Carrier or Goodman HVAC system to such a worthy Phoenix nonprofit and Tucson family.”
