Chas Roberts Launches Chas Roberts University

Phoenix, Arizona – (December 1, 2006) – Chas Roberts Air Conditioning & Heating, the largest HVAC dealer in Arizona, announced today the launch of Chas Roberts University, an extensive training program that works proactively with departments company-wide to develop and continually advance the technical and customer service skills of its employees. Chas Roberts University offers programs for its service technicians, call center representatives, field supervisors and managers. The program tracks were designed to offer skills training throughout the employees’ career.
Chas Roberts University offers training programs for the following career tracks:

• Technicians – Start-up Mechanic training is a nine week training program is designed for trainees with little or no experience and consists of four weeks of class room instruction on safety, A/C ladder diagram, basic electrical, brazing procedures, EPA and start –up procedures. The remaining five weeks are spent as a group completing work in actual homes that are being built. Upon meeting graduation requirements, the new technicians work with a supervisor where they acquire additional skills such as basic trouble shooting and air balancing in order to ultimately become eligible for advanced training in the Basic and Master Technician programs over the next three to five years. A minimum of 100 hours of training are required for all service technicians each year.

• Call Center Representatives – The Chas Way training program is a one week program that prepares new call center representatives for needs specific to the Chas Roberts Call Center. Topics include A/C and heating intangibles and database training using role playing and mock calls in the computer lab to simulate actual circumstances, and test competency and service skills.

• Field Supervisors and Managers – The program to train newly hired field supervisors is the Supervisor Boot Camp, which helps to integrate new employees and prepare them for leading their team. New Manager training is a program designed to advance employees into a supervisory and management role. This 12-week program where participants receive training in basic personnel management skills, best practices for the trade they will be supervising, OSHA for the HVAC industry, EPA certification, brazing certification, safety and workmanship responsibilities audit, styles of leadership, as well as techniques for employee motivation, praising, coaching and disciplinary issues.

Leading the training programs at Chas Roberts University is one training supervisor, who is supported by three full-time trainers who oversee each of the various career tracks. The programs are continually updated to best ensure that the technical service teams and their managers are equip with the most up-to-date knowledge of the vast range of product lines, and industry technology. The Chas Roberts University training facilities include five class rooms with computer labs, A/C mock ups and video projector media capabilities.
