Chas Roberts Celebrates Six Years of AC Giveaways

Chas Roberts Air Conditioning & Plumbing is Arizona’s largest Phoenix air conditioning and heating provider, and as such, they wanted to do something special to give back to the wonderful people of the state they’ve called home for 73 years. Being in the Valley for this long, Chas Roberts knows that not everyone has a quality, properly-working air conditioning system. So, in 2010, Chas Roberts launched their first ever AC Giveaway contest, which gives needy families and nonprofit organizations a brand new Carrier or Goodman system – with installation – at no cost.

“We enjoy sponsoring this program every year because it’s a way to say thank you to the community that has helped us become the largest provider of Tucson and Phoenix air conditioning systems,” said Chas Roberts CEO Sissie Roberts Shank. “We have been fortunate to be able to give back to families and nonprofits that, in many cases, have never had air conditioning, and we hope to get even more entries than ever this year.”

Touching the Lives of Many

Since the first AC Giveaway six years ago, more than a dozen winners have received a new HVAC system. Compelling entries from previous winners include:

  • Ken and Bambi Hartman of Phoenix received a new system in 2012. The couple, nominated by Ken’s coworker, run the Great Dane rescue of Arizona from their home and had been living without an air conditioner for seven years.

  • In 2013, Chas Roberts Phoenix AC contractors announced the first-ever nonprofit organization to win the AC Giveaway: Phoenix Children’s Project. This nonprofit organization helps impoverished children in the Phoenix metro area in many ways, including providing back-to-school clothes and supplies, Christmas and Easter gifts, family food boxes, swimming lessons and even a summer camp. Chas installed two systems at one of their locations: a single family home that houses a family in need and the children’s community center.

  • In 2014, winner Hector Toruga of Mesa was nominated by six different people! Toruga, a single father of two sons with special needs who require 24-hours a day care, had been unable to replacing his failing AC system due to financial constraints.
