Recognize Earth Day by Increasing Energy Efficiency at Home

Chas Roberts Air Conditioning & Plumbing offering incentives to help homeowners upgrade to energy-efficient HVAC equipment

Phoenix, Ariz. (April 19, 2013) – On April 22, the 43rd annual Earth Day will be observed. Earth Day was started in 1970 by U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson from Wisconsin who wanted to find a way to raise public awareness about air and water pollution. On the first Earth Day – April 22, 1970 – 20 million Americans took to the streets and public squares to rally for a healthy, sustainable environment. Today, Earth Day is a global event that mobilizes more than 200 million people in 141 countries.

U.S. consumers spend a collective $241 billion on home energy use every year, according to the Home Energy Saver project at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. The project also estimates that improvements in efficiency could cut home energy use by more than half, leading to lower energy bills and a smaller carbon footprint.

In honor of Earth Day 2013, Chas Roberts Air Conditioning & Plumbing is providing homeowners with information on how to go “green” and offering financial incentives to jump-start the process: Go Green. Many people are unaware of the financial benefits of replacing an older air conditioning system with a more energy-efficient model. If an HVAC is more than 10 years old, consider replacing it with a unit that has earned the ENERGY STAR label. According to energystar.gov, these high-efficiency units can save up to 20 percent on heating and cooling costs. Energy Star also recommends installing a programmable thermostat to help save energy and money while homeowners are away or sleeping.

Going “green” can also save some green. For a limited time, homeowners in Arizona and New Mexico can benefit from manufacturer incentives when installing a new, more energy-efficient air conditioning system through Chas Roberts:

  • Carrier: Rebate of up to $1450.00 on qualifying equipment (through June 30, 2013)
  • Trane: Choose one of three great offers on qualifying Trane systems (through May 31, 2013): 0% APR if paid off in 36 months; or reduced rate 5.9% APR with custom 1.75% monthly payment; or instant rebate of up to $1,250.

There are also federal tax benefits available of up to $300 for installing a qualifying energy-efficient HVAC system by December 31, 2013. Homeowners in Phoenix may also receive energy company rebates. APS residential customers who replace an existing A/C system could be eligible for a $270 rebate and SRP customers could receive a rebate of up to $400 back for installing an energy-efficient A/C system.
