Roberta Roberts Shank
Chief Executive Officer
“I love Chas Roberts! It is wonderful to be a part of a family business, in particular with our team that works so well together – we are like a big family. Everyone is focused on doing all we can to be the best, and we are energized by the future, and making great things happen.”
Roberta Roberts Shank, CEO of Chas Roberts, began working part-time at the company her grandparents founded when she was in junior high. She became the company’s full-time computer programmer in 1987, and over the years has taken on many different roles.
Roberta was fortunate to work with her father for more than fifteen years, learning every aspect of the family business from him. Today, she leads the company’s vision and growth plans, maintaining the same principles that her father emphasized: “being the best.” It is critical to Roberta and her team that Chas Roberts deliver the best service possible, and stand behind the products and services provided by the company.
Roberta is supported in this endeavor by an extensive team at Chas Roberts, including her management team and hundreds of others, many of whom have been with Chas Roberts for more than 15 years! These people have each been instrumental in growing the company and earning recognition in the industry, namely as Arizona’s Most Admired Company in 1997, Arizona Corporate Achievement Award, and Ranking Arizona Top Ten.
Outside of the office, Roberta and her daughter have been members of the National Charity League since 2005. And, recently Roberta and her dog were certified as a Delta Pet Partner Team, through which they are able to provide comfort to patients and elderly residents at area hospitals and nursing homes. Roberta graduated from Arizona State University.
“I think that the people at Chas Roberts are just great! I’ve been working with many of them since I began at the company twenty years ago, which has given me the opportunity to really get to know people in each of our divisions and offices throughout the state – what I can say is that everyone here really cares. I can’t think of another place that is like Chas Roberts.”
Bob Shank is the Chief Operating Officer for Chas Roberts. He joined the company in 1988 as a service tech and over the years was involved with most every division of the company. He has had an integral role in developing and growing the company to a national leader in air conditioning and heating services.
Before joining Chas Roberts, Bob served as an Army Ranger at Fort Benning, Ga. When he is not at work, helping to keep customers comfortable, Bob enjoys fishing and golfing.
“I can’t tell you how proud I am to be part of the Chas Roberts team. The team’s commitment to doing things right the first time, are points of pride for each of us. Whether we are working on large production home projects, individual custom homes, remodels, replacements or maintenance, our service technicians, call center and customer service teams truly care about our customer’s satisfaction.”
Rod Tomita, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, joined Chas Roberts in May 2007, and has responsibilities in Phoenix, Tucson, and Prescott. He oversees the marketing activities for the company, and is responsible for the New Construction, Remodel and Light Commercial Sales divisions.
Rod brings Chas Roberts extensive management experience from several top companies throughout Arizona. Partially because of his love for golf, Rod serves on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of the Moon Valley Country Club. He has also been involved with the John C. Lincoln Foundation, Actor Theater, and Banner Health. Rod received his MBA from Hawaii Pacific University.
Jill Zimmerman is a CPA and the Chief Financial Officer for Chas Roberts Air Conditioning. She joined the company in March 2008, and oversees the finance, accounting, treasury management and human resources functions of the company.
Prior to joining Chas Roberts, Jill worked as the CFO and Controller for both national and Arizona homebuilding companies. Before that, she was a manager in the audit practice of a Big 4 accounting firm for several years. Outside of Chas Roberts, Jill is a member of the Arizona Society of CPAs and the Construction Financial Managers Association. She volunteers her time to several causes, including serving on the audit committee for a local not-for-profit performing arts organization, and enjoys dance and theater.
